Attach files, pictures, and screenshots
Replies associates attachments to the message snippets you are editing. This helps in reusing text with attachments when you search for answers.

When you send the messages, all attachments are moved to the bottom of the message.
How to create attachments
Attachments can be created in several ways:
- Drag a file from Finder to your reply
- Copy a file and paste it into the message text
- Copy a picture and paste it into the message text
- To select a file via a file open dialog, use the File > New > New Attachment menu item or press ⌘⌥F
How to shrink picture attachments
Replies automatically reduces the attachment size. You can choose the desired size by hovering over the attachment preview picture and selecting the desired size:
- As-Is: The file isn't modified
- Large: Convert to JPEG and restrict height and width to 1024 pixels
- Medium: Convert to JPEG and restrict height and width to 800 pixels
- Medium: Convert to JPEG and restrict height and width to 640 pixels
How to attach a screenshot
Use the following methods to take a screenshot and copy it to the clipboard:
- Use the Grab application to take your picture and use Cmd-C to copy the image to the clipboard
- Press ⇧⌃⌘4 to select a part of the screen and
- Press ⇧⌃⌘3 then press SPACE to select a window
- Press ⇧⌃⌘3 to select any part of the screen
To paste the screenshot:
- Select the message text you are editing
- Press ⌘V (or Edit > Paste from the menu) to attach the screenshot
How to remove attachments
To remove an attachment, click the 'x' in the corner of the
attachment icon or attachment preview
